The icons of the #BLM movement :
Trayvon Martin was brutally beating George Zimmerman when Zimmerman shot him.
Michael Brown had robbed a store, had beaten and was charging a police officer when the officer shot him.
George Floyd was a career criminal, high on drugs, passing counterfeit money, when he died of an overdose while being inappropriately restrained by police.
Jacob Blake was wanted for sexual assault, aggressively resisted arrest, and was reaching for a knife when police shot him.
Ricardo Munoz was attacking a police officer with a knife when he was shot.
If you do not see the role that the behavior of these people played in the unfortunate outcomes of their interactions , and if you imagine that they died because of “racism”, well, we will just have to agree to disagree.
If you think that these men are representative of the Black community, well, that is just racist. In every single high profile case championed by #BlackLivesMatter, we are talking about people engaging in criminal or otherwise severely antisocial, self-destructive behavior which itself precipitated the encounters that led to tragic ends. If you do not want to mention these behaviors because you think it unfairly maligns these individuals, bear in mind that NOT mentioning their behavior maligns both the entire Black community, as well as the police.
