Liberals think it is very compassionate to explain the high rates of crime, illegitimacy, drug abuse, single-mother and teenage mother-led families in the Black community to the residual affects of slavery. The problem is, these were not prevalent characteristics of the Black community during the first 100 years after slavery; these things did not start to explode among African-Americans until the 1960s and 1970s.
