In my earliest public posts on FB, and from quite some time prior to that, I have said that the future of political activism was to organize for the democratization of corporate power. Every year that has become more true, more necessary, and more urgent. 2020 has accelerated the transfer of power from the state to the private sector to a disturbing degree, but the understanding that our lives are governed by those in boardrooms and not by those in public office has not taken hold. We cannot afford for this to be the future of activism, it needs to be the primary organizing principle of political opposition right now.
