The notion of the “level playing field” advocated by neoliberals, supposedly intended to ensure that no company has an “unfair advantage” in any market, is actually intended to preserve the comparative advantage of huge multinationals to enable them to totally dominate domestic markets.
“Protectionist” economic policies are officially condemned for giving “unfair advantages” to domestic industry, but, in fact, they are the only way to ensure any degree of equitable competitiveness.
