In many ways the tourism industry is the ultimate neoliberal sector; with prime real estate, natural resources, and carte-blanche environmental exploitation all being offered to huge multinationals and investors, to build and maintain elite resorts and luxury hotels for rich foreign tourists; and of course, profits all flowing out of the country that is being sold as a destination.
