Corporations are both the most powerful and most vulnerable elements in the system of domination. Once you have established a mechanism for imposing accountability on the owners of capital, they are powerful enough to impose obedience on every other element in the system (they already do).
If they can profit by mobilizing state power against the population; by repression and atrocities, of course they will do that. But if the only way they can profit is by making the state comply with the popular will, then of course, they will do that.
Less profit is still better than loss.
Within the inherently psychotic and parasitic framework of corporate decision making, they are still quite rational.
