Whenever an Islamist declares that the main problem we face is the lack of leadership, we can all understand from this that he is recommending himself for the position.
But, in my opinion, this is not our problem.
We have no shortage of people who are willing to nominate themselves as leaders who should be heard and obeyed without question. But the general protocol in Islam is that whoever seeks a position, should not be appointed to it.
We have no shortage of men whose main interest in any sort of social movement is just to be able to ride its wave. They incite, but without ideas. They seek mobilization, but without direction. They offer opposition, but without alternatives.
No. Follow ideas, not individuals. Policies, not parties. Adopt strategy without hierarchy, Open Source Revolution. Be leaderless leaders of your own liberation.
