Open Source Revolution, like open source software, is a collaborative, non-hierarchical strategy; as such, it is impossible for power to identify, eliminate, or manipulate key figures in the movement.
The leaders in Open Source Revolution are actions, not actors. Every action creates a new fact on the ground, which becomes like a stair step for the movement, until the next action creates the next step up, then the next, and the next.
Once an action has been performed against the power structure, it is evaluated by dozens, or hundreds, or thousands, of rebels, who will assess the tactics and their results, and consequently develop and adapt and refine new tactical concepts independently and anonymously.
If you ask any intelligence or security expert, they will confirm that the “lone wolf” type of activist is their greatest fear. The revolutionary who has no party affiliation, is not part of any organized command structure, and operates independently; he is unstoppable. His plan cannot be infiltrated.
If you are unable to participate in carrying out an action, then provide ideas. Brainstorm, innovate tactics, research targets and analyze the power structure to identify vulnerabilities. This is the collaborative nature of Open Source Revolution.
Take the policy demands and the fundamental strategic concept of targeted system disruption against the corporate imperial structure, improvise tactics, and move the revolution forward.
You don’t need to be led, you don’t need approval or permission. You don’t need to be informed about your own suffering, or have your oppression explained to you.
Bringing any party or politician to power is never going to be a remedy to oppression, only self-empowerment can remedy oppression, and that is the essence of Open Source strategy.
