The quality of discourse and the soundness of strategy depends on what we ourselves are willing to accept; and this, of course, will determine the progress and success or suicide of the revolutionary movement.
If we are willing to distract ourselves with empty rhetoric and demagoguery; if we descend into petty grudges and adolescent gossip; if we accept to align ourselves with or against personalities; obviously, we will create leaders who are happy to oblige our low expectations. And, just as obviously, the revolutionary movement will die of malnutrition.
If, however, we insist on articulated and informed strategies with clear tactics; if we demand thorough policy proposals and comprehensive analyses of the socioeconomic conditions and power dynamics we are facing; if we refuse the personalization of politics, and align ourselves with ideas, policies, and strategies, instead of with individuals and parties; of course, we will discover serious collaborative leadership whose ideas and non-egoistic efforts will nourish the revolution, and move the Cause forward.
