The parasitic elite have become SO exclusive and highly concentrated,
the gap between them and the rest of the population has become SO massive, disparity between them and everyone else has gotten SO extreme, and their bloodlust for power and wealth has become SO irrational and destructive…that it is completely unsustainable.
It is unsustainable except through the dismantling of sovereign state systems and wholesale economic brutality by which the population is made to live in conditions of deprivation and chaos similar to the conditions of a war zone. Without services, without security, without institutions, without public infrastructure, and under heavy-handed invasive law enforcement.
This is what is required to maintain the current power dynamic. The strategy to achieve it is neoliberalism. This strategy is imposed through a variety of methods (war, subversion, secretly negotiated agreements, etc), using a variety of instruments (the IMF, World Bank, Multinational corporations etc), but we should make no mistake about what is being pursued and why.
This is what is being pursued in Egypt, both by means of the counter-revolutionary coup, and by means of the crisis resulting from prolonged social turmoil.
