Small clarification:
Weight loss and fat loss are not the same thing. If you are several kilos over your ideal weight, of course, that will usually mean excessive fat; but if you are burning calories primarily through exercise, you will likely not see weight loss as rapid as if you simply reduce your food intake through some sort of diet program.
However, trying to lose fat by means of dieting alone will often cause you to actually lose muscle tissue, and that is weight you do not want to lose.
The more you exercise, the more you will build muscle (unless you are only running or jogging), and muscle is heavier than fat, so your gains in muscle growth will offset fat loss, and you may not see dramatic reduction in the weight of your body itself.
It is better to measure fat loss not only by how much you weigh, but also by how your body looks. If you are burning fat through dieting along with exercise, you will begin to see more muscle definition, and greater firmness in your body, your arms and legs, and your stomach will get more toned. This means you are losing fat, even if the scale does not indicate that you are losing weight.
