Egypt’s regulations on business and foreign investment are being written by foreign investors and corporate lawyers. So, do you have any question about who is actually ruling the country, and for whose benefit it is being ruled?
They say that “the legislative amendments introduced to the investment, taxes and corporate regulations meet the needs of investors at the moment, but require accuracy in implementation”. This is the language of a supervisor. They draft laws to meet their needs, and warn the government to implement these laws efficiently, with the implicit warning that, if implementation is not satisfactory, the government will be punished.
They are announcing to you their power over the state, if you are paying attention. You should announce to them your power over their capital; believe me, they will pay attention.
