Islam does not deny the weaknesses and dangers inherent in human nature, rather it provides a regulatory framework which enables the Believers to circumvent the perils of those weaknesses. The Kuffar do not adhere to this regulatory framework, and thus, fall heedlessly into the traps within their own selves.
Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala informed us about ourselves when He said:
“…وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ …”
The love of wealth immediately creates divisive competitiveness between human beings to the extent that Allah has described this passion as “violent”.
Without the Guidance of Islam, the greed instinct can consume a person and cause him to see every other person as a rival instead of as a brother. His violent love for wealth will lead him to exploit, oppress, plunder, and enslave. His extreme commitment to his own enrichment becomes his religion; it both guides and justifies all his actions. Money is sacred, attaining wealth is to become holy.
The richest of the rich, the owners of capital, the shareholders, the CEOs, are the high priests and ministers in the religion of greed; increasing their profit is obligatory worship imposed on all those below them, and this obligation will be imposed violently.
