The oppressive economic policies imposed on the “developing world” under the banner of neoliberalism are far too profitable for the super-sovereign Empire of Capital to resist imposing them on the “developed world”, that is what “austerity policies” are; the Third-Worldization of the US and Europe.
Because the populations in the West have grown accustomed to a higher standard of living and a greater degree of liberty, this will be a particularly tumultuous process, and this is why we have seen the increased militarization of the police in the US and Europe, and the vast expansion of surveillance powers of domestic intelligence servies. It has nothing whatsoever to do with “terrorism” and everything to do with preemptive counter-revolution.
