It must be understood that targeting the police and security forces targeting the army, is tantamount to supporting both the coup and the imperial system it serves. This approach does not weaken the regime, nor does it hinder the conquest of Egypt by the multinationals; rather it has the opposite effect.

It is also important to acknowledge that there is a substantial segment of the population that genuinely supports the military regime. Fighting the regime will not change these people’s minds. Exposing the corruption of the regime and it’s subservience to foreign investors, however can change their minds.

Supporting the army does not prevent someone from protesting the plunder of their country by multinationals, it does not prevent them from demanding fair food prices and electricity and health care.

Returning to the original socioeconomic demands of the revolution can reestablish cohesion and unity among the opposition. And obviously the regime will not respond to these demands, which will destroy it’s credibility and deprive it of any popular support.
