If you are from the educated class within a colonized society (and I am not aware of a society that is otherwise), you should be aware that the Kuffar will probably assume that you have internalized their values system, They will assume that you have been indoctrinated properly, and you concur that they are, and that their culture is, superior in every way.
If you are from this class, it is very likely that their assumptions are true, and you probably do not operate under the assumption that they are innately hostile to Islam. And I am speaking here as someone with experience on both sides of that hostility; I have intimate knowledge of the non-Muslim mind.
As Allah said “it is you who love them, but they do not love you”. Being open-hearted and trusting are qualities of the mu’mineen; but these can become vulnerabilities that can be exploited and manipulated. “Education” is one of the primary ways this occurs.
In the US I had a good deal of contact with the hostile intellectual apparatus that tries to infiltrate and influence our people. I used to work for an Islamic organization, and was frequently invited to speak at conferences and panel discussions on Muslim affairs.
These would often be organized by university Islamic or Mideast studies departments, and there were always these “friends” of Islam, so to speak…people who took someone like John Esposito as their shaykh, or Karen Armstrong.; telling us what Islam is and isn’t.
It all sounds nice and complimentary. They speak of the Prophet ï·º with reverence, and talk about how Islam promotes human rights and equality and so on, and about how Islam is misrepresented and distorted.
This always pleases us, Like an anesthetic.
We are so used to being insulted and our religion being slandered, when they say nice things, we feel relief and let our guard down. When they start saying things that undermine our ‘Aqeedah, we don’t want to spoil the nice friendly atmosphere.
They say that Islam is compatible with Western ideas and culture, and if you believe that Western ideas and culture are superior, you are flattered, and you become interested in proving and preserving this compatibility, until you ultimately have nothing left but Western ideas and culture, which you call Islam. You are left with a lie that you call the truth.
