Frequently I have been presented with the argument that there is no way to fight power unless you first possess power yourself. While this appears logical on the surface, it seems to me that it is the logic of one who has not experienced the dynamics of an actual fight.

As I have written numerous times, your strength is not determined in relation to your opponent’s strengths, it is determined in relation to his weaknesses. Your strike may not be strong, in and of itself, but if you aim your strike at a vulnerable point, you amplify its power

Again, look at successful liberation moments. The IRA never had military might equal to the British army. They never had financial power equal to the British Empire. They applied their strengths against the British occupation’s weaknesses. This is how you defeat a larger, stronger opponent.

The strengths of the imperial system, obviously, include the military and security services they control; if you try to topple the Empire of Capital by attacking their armies, you will facilitate their domination; just as if you try to trade blows with a heavyweight boxer, while you are a featherweight, you are essentially helping him defeat you.

Rather, a small man fighting a bigger man, should target pressure points, strike at joints and unprotected areas; he should manipulate the man’s movement to use his weight against him.

This same principle applies in larger scale conflicts.
