Just to clarify for anyone who may need to know; INTERPOL does not arrest people.
They simply coordinate with local police to identify and locate individuals sought for by another country for prosecution.
If your name has been submitted to INTERPOL, this notice will be given to local police, who then have the choice of whether to arrest you or not.
If you are sought for a crime in another country that is considered a crime in the country you are in, you may be liable for extradition. However, INTEROL does not cooperate in the extradition of individuals sought for prosecution of crimes of a political nature.
There are ways to have your name removed from INTERPOL, and there is a process to defend against extradition, particularly if can be proved that you will be denied due process or face the likelihood of torture or other abuses.
I have personally contributed to a number of such defenses which resulted in extradition requests being discharged, and the individual’s name being removed from INTERPOL.
