As I see it, there are two main ways to evaluate Da’esh, and which method you use will determine your opinion about them. You can either evaluate them based on their rhetoric and their stated goals, in which case you will likely either admire them or else feel obliged to approve of them because the stated goals are religiously admirable. Or, you can evaluate them based upon their actions and the results those actions have caused or are reasonably likely to cause; in which case you will probably despise them. If you combine these two methods and weigh their rhetoric against their actions, you will probably neither admire nor despise them, but you will have to recognize that they will not achieve their stated aims.
