In a hadith related by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, by Al-Tabarany in “Al-Mu`jam Al-Kabir” and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih Book of Hadith with a good Isnad, on the authority of Abu Umamah Al-Bahily (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ï·º said:
“The knots of Islam will be undone one by one. Each time one knot is undone, people will cling to the one next to it. The first of them to be undone is ruling and the last is Salah.”
Islamism is how we keep that first knot from being entirely undone, even if the literal application of Islamic government has been dismantled during the current era, as long as we have not accepted this, insha’Allah, the knot remains intact, because we still feel bound by it. When we cease to feel bound by it, the knot is gone. Therefore, today Political Islam, is how we keep that knot tied though our governments may try to convince us that it is already undone.
