In order mass demonstrations to be effective, they have to literally be massive; and they need to be planned and organized secretly. No one has the numbers yet to mobilize enough people,, and no one has the grassroots apparatus to organize enough people, even if they had the numbers.
Small to medium sized demonstrations are too risky for too little result to be worthwhile.
There is no doubt that a “Poor Peoples’ Revolution” is needed; not only in Egypt, but throughout the region…if not around the world. But this can only be achieved through persistent grassroots effort to educate and organize the lower classes in the cities and countrysides.
Militant action on a smaller scale, with disciplined, dedicated groups of only a few people targeting corporate operations for disruption, can also do a lot to spread awareness and to shift the direction of the revolution to focus on economic tyranny (debt colonization and corporate imperialism), and to provide a model for resistance that can actually work. Such a model could potentially prevent chaotic eruptions of unfocused violence, which may otherwise occur when the poor begin to rebel.
