The deal to import Israeli gas is not at all for the benefit of …

Posted on August 2, 2014 by Shahid Bolsen

The deal to import Israeli gas is not at all for the benefit of Egypt. This should be clear. It is a diabolical ploy to create Egyptian dependence on Israel for energy, although Egypt has sufficient resources for energy independence. It is a mechanism of enslavement. The beneficiaries are only the multinationals like BG Group, Union Fenosa, and the other energy companies that want to increase their share of Egyptian oil and gas.

Obviously, the more gas the multinationals insist to take, the less Egypt will have for domestic use, and the more they will need to import from Israel. The more they import from Israel, the more resources Israel needs to control. This should mean one of two options, either re-establishing the control of the Palestinian Authority over Gaza, or complete re-occupation by Israel.
