The one controlling constant in the dynamics of power today is capital. The globalization of capital has forever undermined the feasibility of genuine independent sovereignty for any nation.
Any national government will have to contend with the disproportionate influence of global private economic entities, that is, corporations and financial institutions, which wield a level of power that is unprecedented in human history.
If we believe that any party can take over a national government and be able to act independently, we are gravely mistaken.
Until we develop a method of imposing accountability on private power, any revolution will be merely cosmetic.
