From what I have seen, and of course, what I have seen is mostly in English, most of the reports from journalists/activists on the ground in the “Liberated Areas” in Syria, are carefully constructed pieces of propaganda. They completely ignore the abuses committed by rebel groups against the population, and they seem conspicuously interested in advancing the US agenda of justifying a “humanitarian” occupation by UN peacekeepers.
They try to present themselves as independent alternatives to mainstream news outlets, yet they are themselves cited and utilized by mainstream channels. They repeatedly emphasize that they are reporting and explaining the situation for “the common people”, while at least one of the most prominent figures among them, I know, has participated in events for the most influential Washington Think Tank that advocates the partition of Syria.
I guarantee you that it will be revealed after the conflict is over, if not before, that many of these “independent” reporters are in fact employed by the US State Department as professional propagandists and gatherers of intelligence.
