There are simply no countries, certainly not in the developing world, where multinational corporations are not the most powerful political institutions, and CEOs are not the most powerful individuals. Wherever there is injustice and oppression, it is either occurring specifically to serve their interests, or it is occurring because of their indifference. It is either due to policies they have themselves demanded, or policies they tolerate for the sake of profit.

In short, injustice and oppression exist because their existence is more profitable than freedom and justice. This is the calculation we have to keep in mind if we want to change anything. Oppression and tyranny must become unprofitable.
