There seems to me to be an over-emphasis on the obvious unfairness of #Trump’s #MuslimBan in terms of its impact on immigrants. What I think is far more dangerous is the fact that the ban basically slaps an official label on every single person in or from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and Sudan as a suspected terrorist.
We already know that being labeled in this way essentially suspends a person’s Human Rights, their right to due process, indeed, their right to life itself. If the authorities even suspect that someone may be a terrorist, they are eligible for preemptive attack, indefinite detention, or extrajudicial execution. Trump has basically dehumanized roughly 200 million people with the stroke of a pen.
