Redirecting political activism towards corporations instead of governments makes sense for nearly any social or political issue anywhere in the world; because the power and influence of corporations has risen to such an extent, and has such a global reach, that, no matter where you are, they are going to be the dominant players.
Governments and non-state institutions that craft policy all take their cues from business. If business does not care about your issue, neither will government; and if business opposes your issue, you are not going to make any headway.
The only thing we can do is to lobby companies directly. We have the ability to influence them, but we have very little ability to influence governments that are subordinate to them.
