At this point, sadly, I see Islamist politicians as people whose ambition for power and position supersedes their concern for the best interests of the majority of Muslims.
They want to impose pointless complications, inconvenience, impracticality, restrictions and requirements upon Muslims that usually have no sound basis in the Law, and almost always contradict the objectives of the Law. They just want to make life harder and more complicated under the pretext of making it more “Islamic”…basically because they have no real idea of how to make life actually better for people.
