The main point of the Report of the Advisory Commission on Rakhine State is found in the introduction:
“With the presentation of our fi nal report, the Advisory Commission on Rakhine has fulfi lled its mandate. Responsibility for the implementation of our recommendations now lies with Myanmar’s leaders and institutions: The Union and Rakhine State
governments; the national and state parliaments; religious and community leaders; and above all the people of Rakhine.”
The proverbial “washing the hands” of the Rohingya issue by the UN.
Also nootice the conspicuous absence of any mention of the role multinational corporations, foreign investors, and international financial institutions like the World Bank and the IMF have in advancing the Commission’s recommendations; although they have no hesitation to advance their own recommendations for economic reforms.
