It is not a major leap from thinking that your cause is righteous to thinking that you yourself are righteous by virtue of your cause; and it is an even smaller progression to thinking that the opposition to your cause, and those who argue against it, are unrighteous. And that is a very dangerous thing. If other people and other opinions interfere with the accomplishment of your ideal scenario, your ideals can very abruptly become tyrannical and murderous.
