Unless you are talking about a very specific example of a group of people who are suffering, and apply to them the description of “oppressed”; this word is near meaningless.
It is impossible to talk about “THE Oppressed” as if they are an identifiable nationality or ethnic group. Every human being is oppressed in one way or another, and usually is also simultaneously an oppressor in one way or another. It is not even as plausible a term to use as “The Poor”, since that characterisation has some quantifiable metric to determine an objective identification. But the term “the Oppressed” is even more malleable and abstract than the term “Terrorist”, which also has no objective definition.
Despite what “progressive liberals” seem to believe, “Oppressed” is not a group identity and cannot be used as an abstract pronoun. Unless the word is being used with reference to a specific example of oppression, it has no real meaning; which makes its usage misleading and a dangerous tool for creating false paradigms.
