Wounded Syrians–civilians and fighters–are receiving medical treatment inside of Israel. OK, I knew about the field hospital set up by the Israelis in the Golan Heights to treat the injured, but it has become a much more elaborate involvement at this point. They have paramedics now patrolling the border…just in case somebody may need treatment.
The BBC piece makes the outlandish suggestion that this support system is due to ‘the values of his country and the ethics of the profession’…which is actually too offensive to even be laughable….considering the fact that between 2000 and 2007 at least 69 Palestinian babies were born at Israeli checkpoints because of ‘crossing delays’. Thirty-five babies and five of the mothers died. And bear in mind that Israel and Syria are officially in a state of war with each other. Yet the Israelis have organized a highly efficient system to transfer wounded Syrians across the border for free medical treatment, and facilitate their return. As mentioned in the article, ” every step in the process worked perfectly”.
No crossing delays here.
