It is possible, expected even, to turn Egypt into another Syria, or to replay the disaster of Algeria in the 1990s. It should be known that this will not be a revolution insofar as revolution means systemic change to the power structure. Rather, such a scenario will forward the imperialistic agenda of the global elite faster than if there was no resistance at all.
The last 3 years have surely demonstrated that neither regime overthrow nor conventional democratic processes can forward the revolution in Egypt.
Current strategies of mobilization; targeting the military and police, focusing on the removal of El-Sisi and a return to the democratic process, are only serving to strengthen the military and police, both materially and in terms of popular support, and serving to obscure the real powers controlling the realities of the Egyptian people’s daily lives.
This approach, no matter how confrontational it appears, is counter-revolutionary.
