In case you were wondering what effect the present strategy of mass popular demonstrations has on the power structure, the answer is; basically nothing.
In Egypt, the international business community has secured a reliable entity for the management of the process of neoliberal plundering (the army), and the population has been effectively neutralized (even if they hold demonstrations and shout in public squares). Private power is being consolidated; the economy is being cannibalized; and the victims of the investment crusaders are largely bewildered and busy promoting parties instead of policies (as if these two things are synonymous).
Power, despite all the apparent tumult, isn’t threatened. And it has no reason to be.
