Revolution is when there is real fundamental system change; it is not when an opposition party attains a favorable position within the existing system.
The overriding power in society, in Egypt and elsewhere, is in the private sector. Private economic power exercises disproportionate control over government. Changing the personnel in the government, replacing one party with another, can only have superficial impact on the power structure; basically just giving a different faction the opportunity to serve the multinational corporations and the interests of foreign investors.
That is political democracy when the private economy is unregulated.
And this is why we do not see any of the parties or groups confronting the corporate plunderers and financial institutions. They are not genuinely dedicated to system change, only changing their own place in the system.
