In capitalism, nothing is more sacred than the concept of self-interest; and nothing more vilified than the concept of community.
Promoting selfishness as a cultural value, which is the foundation of capitalist ideology, is itself a tactic of oppression and control whereby people are isolated and alienated from on another, and thus deprived of the one weapon they have against the power structure: their solidarity.
