To understand this strategy you have to understand the dynamics which led to the coup in the first place. The coup was a business decision by the army to protect their assets because they recognized the inevitability of neoliberal conquest by foreign capital. They finally realized that the neoliberal process could not be resisted, so they positioned themselves to manage its implementation, to safeguard their interests.
However, though the economic power of the military seems very large IN Egypt, it is nothing compared to the economic power of even a handful of Multinationals. The military cannot defy them, and won’t.
This strategy is not actually focused on simply trying to topple Sisi. That would be a superficial victory; this strategy is focused on the actual ruling power that has occupied and controls Egypt.
Furthermore, we do not aim to force the multinationals out, we aim to force them to use their unparalleled control in more positive ways. We are not trying to destroy their profits, we are trying to make their profits conditional upon their support for justice.
We are not trying to destroy their companies, but rather the idea is to disrupt them while offering them a way to end the disruption by responding to our demands.
