With regard to the role of the media…
Television channels are of two types today. Those which depend on advertisers, and those which have private sources of funding.
The content of any channel will be determined by whoever finances it. This inevitably means that any channel will be, to a great degree, a voice of some segment of the business community.
If the channel is a funded project (essentially a straightforward propaganda machine), its content will reflect the agenda of the elite who pay for it.
That does not automatically mean that its message will be wrong or unhelpful, but it is fairly certain that its content will not generally include messages that contradict the vested interests of those who fund the channel.
Any message against the dominant power structure, confronting the agenda of business and elites, will have extremely limited opportunity to spread through traditional media outlets.
