The primary function of the security services of any country is not to protect the domestic population, but to protect those in power against the domestic population.
Remember that the predictable behavior an enemy is perhaps his greatest weakness, and one of your most important strategic advantages. When you learn the predictable behavior of your enemy, you are in a position to manage his actions.
The security services have studied your actions and your reactions, and they base their strategy against you on what they have learned of your predictable behavior. They know how to incite you, how to divert you, how to control you. You yourselves have taught them this.
In my opinion, clashing with the security forces is mostly a diversion to distract you from focusing on useful targets.
