The penatration of multinational banks as creditors for local communities is often one of the methods used to enslave and control the people.
Emirates NBD is planning to open at least 20 new branches across Egypt. Targeting bank branches for disruption could potentially inflict a serious blow to these plans, and deteriorate the confidence of international banks in general, possibly leading to closures.
Demonstrations at bank branches, graffiti, damage to the external structures, lock-jamming, and so on could potentially create enough of a sense of instability to prompt the branch to close. Closure of an entire branch will create considerable loss for any bank.
