With regard to the latest leaks that reveal Sisi’s contempt for the Gulf rulers, I think at least two points are important to keep in mind.
First, the investment from the Gulf has nothing to do with their love for Sisi, or his for them. It has to do with their love for their own interests. It has to do with their love for their own profit, power, and elimination of political Islam.
Second, the Economic Summit in March aims, at least partly, to decrease the role of the Gulf as the Coup’s main financial benefactors. If it succeeds, the IMF will augment Gulf loans, and it will open the gates of many other international lenders and investors.
If the leaks conclusively prove the corruption of the Coup, and their misuse of loans for their own personal enrichment, they could potentially be used to nullify the obligation to repay them, once the Coup is removed from power
