We are in the peculiar situation where the creators of wealth are oppressed by the owners of wealth.
It is important to understand that disparity of wealth is not merely a financial issue. Inequality of income means inequality of rights, it means inequality of justice, it means inequality of freedom, inequality of independence, inequality of security, inequality of health and education and welfare.
As workers and as consumers, we are creating the wealth of the owners of wealth. We are endowing them with greater and greater power, greater and greater rights. We give them our loyalty as consumers, we give them our labor as workers, yet we have no share in the wealth and power we create for them.
