Allah ‘Azza wa Jall said:
فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ
You can find in the way Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala dealt with Fir’awn and his people, a Divine example of extreme system disruption. The rain, the lice, the weevils, the locusts, the frogs, the blood…none of these were hazards which seemed severe enough to bring the society to a halt; but they were.
Ibn Kathir wrote: ” Fir`awn said, `What can frogs do’ Yet, by the time that night arrived a person would be sitting in a crowd of frogs that reached up to his chin and could not open his mouth to speak without a frog jumping in it.”
Each one of these punishments was unbearable and brought life to a standstill in Egypt, without bloodshed and without ultimate destruction. They caused massive disruption to the point that the government had to negotiate.
This example gives us insight into just how many ways there actually are to impose accountability and consequences on power, besides armed confrontation, if we try to think creatively.
I have previously written about the potential disruptive effectiveness of water damage; either by flooding, or by cutting off water to manufacturing facilities and offices. I have mentioned targeting commercial vehicles and cars of executives with red paint like blood…But clearly, there are innumerable ways to cause disruption and loss to business. We have to brainstorm. Bugs, bees, rubbish, rats, foul odor, etc, any and all of these are things that could potentially shut a business down, even temporarily, just to prove the point that it is not possible to operate in Egypt under the Coup.
