It is important, also, for rebels to understand that prison is just another battlefield in which to fight the regime; imprisonment does not neutralize you. This is particularly true if, as in Egypt, there are large numbers of rebels incarcerated together.
It may be useful in this regard to study the tactics of Irish Republican Army prisoners detained by the British. They used prison as an opportunity to inflict misery on their jailers (while, yes, enduring severe punishment as a result). If it is a fight, it is a fight wherever you and the authorities meet. And this is another reason why it is crucial to be physically fit.
