Though I have written abut this before, I cannot emphasize it enough. Brothers, you must practice physical training, lose body fat, build lean muscle, and give great attention to your level of fitness. This is particularly true for our revolutionary youth.
Narrated Imran bin Husain:
“Rasulullah ﷺsaid,
‘The best of my followers are those living in my generation (i.e. my contemporaries). and then those who will follow the latter”
‘Imran added, “I do not remember whether he mentioned two or three generations after his generation, then the Prophet added,
‘There will come after you, people who will bear witness without being asked to do so, and will be treacherous and untrustworthy, and they will vow and never fulfill their vows, and fatness will appear among them.”
Much like Nabi Musa before him (who could literally kill a man with one punch), Rasulullah ﷺ himself was tremendously strong, fast, and powerful. As we know, he defeated the strongest wrestler of Quraysh, not once, but three times in a row. He walked faster than the Companions, and had the strength to split huge boulders in only a few powerful blows.
The Sahabah were all extremely fit and healthy. Salama bin al-Akwa, for example, could literally outrun a camel.
Unless obesity is the result of a physiological disorder, it is otherwise only the result of gluttony, laziness, and lack of discipline. And, yes, these qualities are also consistent with the character flaws which cause someone to be careless in their testimony, devious, and negligent about their promises. Obesity indicates an internal disorder, if not a physiological one, then a spiritual one.
