From a conversation today with an Egyptian who follows this page regarding the fiery rhetoric of some who call for civil war in Egypt :
“…but they talked about the jehad..”
Shahid : Yes. But their concept of jihad is bombs and kalashnikovs, and fighting the army. They have no comprehension of economics. Only jihad rhetoric. “Jihad jihad, escalate escalate ” These are not ideas.
“I know that we must br prepared first but people dying. The situation is urgent.
Shahid: As i have stated before., do not believe someone who beats the drum of war from a faraway safe location.
“yes, but we take many years”
Shahid : Very few actually. Civil war will be a much longer misery. And the winner will be Israel .
“But the youth have so much energy it can explode.”
Shahid : So direct that energy in a useful way, not self-destructively. We have to move beyond old fashioned concepts of jihad, and update jihad to address the real existing dynamics of power today.
“Yes but the young Brotherhood dissidents and activists will soon go with daish”
Shahid : That is a major failure. I promise you, there will not be civil war in Egypt except that foreign intelligence is managing it.
And frankly, people who make irresponsible rhetoric about escalation without any real ideas or tactics or understanding of the global power system are very dangerous to the goals of the revolution; and they are gambling with the blood of the Muslims.
“Yes that is true”
Shahid : It is also important to remember that Muslims fighting Muslims is not jihad by definition, it is Fitnah.
“But proving that sometimes rulers are murtid and deserve murder, and their supporters as well.”
Shahid : OK. let’s imagine you kill Sisi and destroy the Egyptian army. What then? Where does this leave you?
“Al-Qisaas”
Shahid: Have you weakened the global power structure’s ability to dominate you, or strengthened it and weakened yourself?
Qisaas? Liberation first. Freedom first. Independence first. Sovereignty first.Then qisas by shariah courts in your liberated country .That is the intelligent way.
Otherwise you will just be slaves killing each other, while keeping the same master.
“I am convinced with your words, but the situation reached extreme injustice”
Shahid : Our Ummah has experienced much worse.The solution is liberation and independence.Without that, it will be endless turmoil and slavery .
“You are right”
Shahid : The brutality of the regime is a tactic to divert the youth from the revolution to seek retribution instead. It is a technique of control. We must remain focused and pursue the path to liberation and economic and political independence.
“We will not free ourselves economically as long as the military controls the country’s economy.”
Shahid : Yes. And that can be undone. But not by attacking the army and police etc. That has very little impact, other than solidifying their grip on power.
You can do it by impacting the profitability of multinationals who themselves dominate the military. They have the power to take away the influence of the army.
The army has the degree of control they have because they are able to serve the interests of international capital better than anyone else. If they can’t do that they will lose their status.
