For the record, belief in the coming of the Mahdi is from the aqeedah of Ahl us-Sunnah wal Jama’ah. It is a doctrinal fact. Furthermore, knowing that this is true inoculates us from the delusion that we can establish a pure Islamic Utopia , a fallacy promoted by extremist and ignorant groups. It enables us to be realistic and rational, and focused on achieving achievable goals
