Nonviolence as an opposisitional philosophy is based on a set of concepts that are fundamentally illogical and observably wrong.
First of all, the idea holds that state power possesses a moral conscience. That is simply incorrect. If States were individuals, they would be clinically certifiable as psychopaths. States are essentially mercenary and devoted to their interests and the consolidation of their power.
Second, the idea supposes that one can teach another to not employ violent repression by continuously and voluntarily suffering the violent repression they employ. I am not sure how this can logically compute in anyone’s mind. If you are in a boxing match and your opponent does not defend himself, that does not teach you that you should stop punching him. Quite the opposite.
The relationship between the rulers and the ruled is explicitly adversarial, know this. Willingness to suffer at the hands of power will never persuade power to lift its hand from your neck.
