What is being applied globally, not only in our countries, is essentially an imperialist, colonialist model.
I am sure that in Egypt, you know where the elites live. Just as anyone knows where they live in Brazil, or Morocco, or Greece, or the US.
Their neighborhoods have better roads, better services, clean water, security, better schools, high-quality infrastructure, and so on. Don’t they? The rest of the population suffers in squalor and insecurity.
The same was true in the colonial era. The colonizers had their own towns; insulated bubbles of comfort and prosperity; while the colonized lived in deprivation and misery.
It takes a great deal of intellectual effort to not see that the situation has not changed.
The only difference today is that the colonizers do not represent the interests of a particular country, Nationalism has been removed from the imperial equation, thereby allowing the system to be imposed everywhere.
