Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, Commands us:
“…يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًاِ…”
“…Believers, be mindful of God, speak in a direct fashion and to good purpose,…”
Adhering to this command is a quality of Believers, and violating it is a quality of the Munafiqeen.
The hypocrites are not straightforward; they lie and deceive; they hide their true intentions and wear two faces. Unfortunately, this has become the trend among some Islamist parties who prefer to obscure their Islamic agenda; removing Islamic terms from their speeches, and publicly advocating Western political concepts They may proclaim that they have no Islamic agenda at all, and pretend to believe in liberal values in order to gain broader support. Instead of calling for Shari’ah, they call for “justice” for example; they talk about human rights instead of the Rights of Allah.
The same type of obfuscation has become prevalent in da’awah. “Islam means ‘peace'” and “Jihad simply means exerting effort in support of justice” or “Islam believes in equality between all people, between men and women, between all religions” etc, etc. It is an effort to make Islam palatable for Kuffar by superimposing their supposed values on our Deen without explaining clearly the fundamental differences in how we actually define these things.
It is essentially an attempt to trick people into accepting Islam through deliberate abstraction, and this simply cannot work; not only because it is disingenuous but also because any Kafir can easily find a copy of the Qur’an or Hadiths and discover that, no, Islam is not just a vague set of subjective moral principles like Christianity or Western humanism. It is a clear and meticulous law with very specific definitions, limits, and delineations of rights and responsibilities.
We have nothing to fear from being honest about our Deen; neither in Da’awah nor in politics
